Bhagavad Gita - The Way Of Life
The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the Song Divine, is a treatise for everyone is a 700 verse Hindu scripture that is part of the epic Mahabharata. The Bhagavad Gita is set in a narrative framework of a dialogue between the Pandava Prince Arjuna and his guide and charioteer, the Lord Shree Krsna, an incarnation of Supreme Divine Consciousness. At the beginning of the 'Dharma Yuddha' (Righteous War) between the Pandavas and Kauravas, Arjuna, the great warrior prince, is filled with moral dilemma and despair about the violence and death of the war will cause in the battle against his own kith and kin. Arjuna wonders if he should renounce the world and, therefore, seeks Lord Shree Krsna's counsel, whose answers and discourse constitute the Bhagavad Gita - "The Way of Life." Lord Krsna teaches Arjuna to "fulfill his Kshatriya (warrior) duty to uphold the Dharma (Righteousness)" through "selfless action." The Krsna–Arjuna dialogues cover a broad range of spiritual topics, touching upon ethical dilemmas and philosophical issues that go far beyond the war Arjuna faces. Lord Shree Krsna imparts the sovereign secret of how to perform one's 'Swadharma' (The Purpose of life) by following the path of 'Dharma' (Righteousness) through the threefold path of Jnana (Knowledge), Karma (Duty or Selfless Action) and Bhakti (Love and Devotion) which then, will lead one on the path of attaining God or Self-Realisation.
