Yiwen Cai – Reflecting on China’s rural education and gaokao reform
Today we’re joined by Yiwen Cai, a features reporter at Sixth Tone specializing in health and education. Cai won two Society of Publishers in Asia awards in the past two years, as well as a Global Health Reporting Award from the International Journalist Center in 2018. In this episode we discuss rural education in China, her recent reporting on rural dropouts, and China’s continuing efforts to reform the gaokao system.
