Richard Young: Bringing the NFL to China
Today we’re joined by Richard Young, managing director of NFL China. Young first came to China in 1990 as a student and has since had a 26-year career involving sports in Asia, including 18 years of senior level experience working across 15 countries. He’s been in China the last 13 years, and just celebrated his 8th anniversary with the NFL. In this episode we talk about the NFL’s experience in China, the challenges of growing a fan base in a region not traditionally familiar with American football, and the importance of both a strong online presence and further developing domestic leagues to heighten China’s passion for the game.
