Mareike Ohlberg: What China’s social credit system means for you
As China’s social credit system continues to be rolled out, it’s important for those living and doing business in China to understand how it will impact them. In this episode we talk to Mareike Ohlberg of the Mercator Institute for China Studies to better understand the system’s development and implications. Ohlberg holds a PhD in Chinese Studies from the University of Heidelberg, and has conducted significant research into China’s subnational politics, official media policy, and Chinese ideas and ideology, including analyzing Chinese language social media and online debates.
