EP 34: Jessica Villa Sikora on Navigating Your Mental Health Journey a How Music Saved Her Life

Let's talk about mental health. In today's episode, I spoke with Jessica Villa Sikora, founder of the nonprofit SUPERBANDS, which is an organization dedicated to creating a community of hope through music. Jessica dealt with depression growing up, and decided to use her experience of finding an escape in music to uplift others who might be going through the same struggle. We talk about her journey, what it means to be mentally healthy, self care in the midst of a pandemic, and how we can normalize and talk about mental health. This was such an important topic to cover and I hope that this is just the beginning of the conversation.  Mental Health Resources (primarily USA-based): American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) - https://afsp.org National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - https://www.nami.org Mental Health America (MHA) - https://www.mhanational.org Online counseling like Talkspace or Betterhelp Crisis helplines - Text HOME to 741741 to speak with a crisis counselor for free OR call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Where you can find Jessica a SUPERBANDS: SUPERBANDS website: www.superbands.com SUPERBANDS Instagram: @superbands_ SUPERBANDS Twitter: @superbands_ Jessica's Instagram: @xjessicavilla Where you can find me: Personal Instagram: @kelseylynnjones Podcast Instagram: @whatsstoppingyoupodcast FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/whatsstoppingyoupodcast/
