Aquino joins Leslie Grace, J.K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser, and Michael Keaton, and will play the first major transgender character in a DC Comics live adaptation. The film will focus on Barbara, the daughter of Police Commissioner Gordon. The show, titled Survival of the Thickest, is based on Buteau’s own 2020 essay about a plus sized Black woman trying to handle her life after she is suddenly single.
