And if you know a student who earned a rare and coveted spots in the most competitive colleges in the land, you ask, “What makes them a unicorn?” The process can feel mysterious and at the same time, crafting a freshman class is nothing short of magical. In Los Angeles, who knew that right smack in the middle of the city of Angels is a campus filled with Unicorns. The Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, warmly known as LACES is home to 6th - 12th grade students and their mascot is the Unicorn. LAUSD is the 2nd largest public school district in the country, serving over ½ million students.
