Ever wonder what Wait - List students look like? Who are they? How could they get so close to an admit, but yet - not get admitted. This week I offer the stories of two applicants who were wait-listed: Candidate #1: Colette had all the numbers, high grade point average, top ranked in her class, high SAT scores, and an 800 on the writing portion of the exam. By senior year Colette was Editor in Chief of the school newspaper and of the Literary Magazine. When she was not working on her novel, you could find her behind the stage. Candidate #2: William’s summers were spent in the city with a coveted internship with Citicorp and CBS and wrote about his experiences in his essays. He played lacrosse and listed economics as his chosen major. William’s father attended Brown and worked as a senior partner at McKinsey a Company. One of these students was admitted. One was not.
