#50. Mary Shores - Conscious Communication
Words have the power to create and transform our lives. Taken from the Amazon snip it introducing her new book, Conscious Communication: Whether we realize it or not, the words we use dictate and control our lives. The persistent messages we repeat can frame our thoughts and trap us into a mind-set that is difficult to break. This mind-set often manifests itself with statements like “I can’t,” “I’m not good enough,” and “I’ll never find the [insert the blank] I want.” Many times, we don’t stop to consider the profound impact that these negative, limiting words have on our mentality, life choices, and the path of possibility that we manifest. I had the honor of chatting through this with Mary Shores. In this episode, we're talking all about how the way we talk to ourselves and communicate with the world around us, impacts on the experience we have. Change your language and you really can change your world. I appreciate Mary's approach because she is completely practical. As we discuss in the interview, it is all well and good to hear many of the self-help anecdotes and theories, but how do you apply them to your life so that you can really see a change? That is where Conscious Communication can serve as a portal, a starting point, and something that you can really do something about. Specifically in this interview we're covering: How Mary overcame adversity [including teenage parenthood, being told she wouldn't ever amount to much, the death of her first child, and divorce] to become a powerful force in her own life The 5 Keys to How we Communicate with Ourselves How communicating consciously can improve our lives and how Science a Spirituality have more in common than perhaps even I've been given them credit for!
