The album Eddie had it "up to here with" the cover songs. Van Halen followed up 'Fair Warning' with 'Diver Down' that was half originals and half cover tunes. While it scored high on the album charts and kept Van Halen's rise to the top in tack Eddie was growing tired of the control others had on their music.
