#198 Rhythms of Resistance (7th June 2020)
This week, more than ever, we have been watching the news, trying to work out what we can do with our platform. It’s only modest but staying silent in these times isn’t an option, so tonight’s show is going to be a bit different. Regular listeners will know that music from the African diaspora runs throughout this show. Whether it’s from the spirit of Congo Square, sound system culture of Jamaica, block parties of the south Bronx, the list could go on . For this show, we spoke even less than normal. We picked 2 hours of songs that speak to protest, struggle and change. Music to soundtrack reflection, rhythms of resistance. We’re not going to tell you what to do, that’s not our place. We’re still not 100% sure what to do ourselves. We just know that being quiet isn’t an option any more. Hopefully you’ll have a chance to meditate on the kind of change you want for the world. As always, we hope you enjoy the show. Paul a Steve
