Living Legend of Urdu Adab - Dr. Bashir Badr

Bashir Badr is an Urdu poet extraordinaire, who has been felicitated with the Sahitya Academy Award and Padamshree. He was born on February 15th, 1935 at Ayodhya, India. He completed his B.A., M.A. and Ph D. from Aligarh Muslim University. He worked as a lecturer in the Aligarh Muslim University and later as the head of the department of Meerut College, Meerut. He is well versed not just in Urdu but also in  Persian, Hindi and English.

He has published multitude of books. It is believed that he started writing Shers at the age of seven. He not only wrote poetry but served Urdu Adab by writing in periodicals, magazines and books on Urdu literature. Some of his work has been translated into English and French.
