26: A sanctuary for all creatures great and small, with Anjali Gopalan

'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated,' said Mahatma Gandhi. If we were to take this into consideration, how would our country fare? In this episode, Sandip asks LGBTQ rights activist and the founder of Naz foundation, Anjali Gopalan this question. Although best known for her work on HIV/AIDS and Naz, Anjali also runs 'All Creatures Great and Small' - a sanctuary for sick and disabled animals - and is a member of the Animal Welfare Board of India. From archaic laws against animal cruelty to the ethics of responsibly having pets, they discuss why we need to broaden our understanding of animal rights.
