For over a year now, we've seen some major cases being heard in the Supreme Court. Like 377, Sabrimala and Aadhar. And no matter how much these cases are politicised, they are actually about the values prescribed in the Indian constitution. Any talk about the idea of transforming the country requires one to interact with, interpret and sometimes amend it. For many of us, any attempt to understand the constitution can be intimidating. After all, we are not all constitutional scholars. Luckily, some people are. In this episode, Sandip Roy speaks to lawyer and legal scholar Gautam Bhatia, who himself has been involved in some of these landmark cases. They discuss his new book, The Transformative Constitution: A Radical Biography in Nine Acts and what makes the Constitution of India so transformative, and as some say, like a living tree.
