Topic: Curbing Youth Extremism and ISIS Recruitment The Muslim community should not consider the San Bernardino, Boston Marathon bombing, Major Nidal Hasan’s Texas shooting incident and other local reported incidents as isolated cases. We have to dig into the real causes leading some of the vulnerable Muslim youth to adopt extreme positions and be easy recruits for external terrorist organizations like ISIS. Extremists abroad and the FBI at home are targeting vulnerable Muslims.. War-terrorism-Islamophobia is a nexus of evil that impacts Muslim youth in many significant ways. It is creating a high level of anger among Muslim youth, who a 2009 Gallup survey found are angrier than youth in any other faith community in the United States. Anger is also associated with mental health issues. This session discusses the very reasons behind the Muslim Youth extremism and prescribes a way ahead for how to curb and prevent it.
