1. Eleven people, including eight children, are killed as a double-storey apartment building collapses on another structure at a slum in Mumbai's Malad. At least seven others receive injuries in the incident. Many are still feared trapped under the debris and evacuation operations are underway, officials said. 2. The Union Health Ministry has issued clinical guidelines for the treatment of Covid-positive children amid concerns that a possible third wave of the coronavirus infections may target those aged below 18. In a detailed document titled 'Comprehensive Guidelines for Management of COVID-19 in Children', the ministry says antiviral drug Remdesivir is not recommended for children, and steroids should be used to treat only moderately severe and critically ill patients in hospital settings. 3. Drug maker Bharat Biotech will seek a full licence for Covaxin once the results of its phase 3 trial are published in July. The vaccine is also scheduled for further testing 'for real-world effectiveness', the company has said. Referring to Covaxin's efficacy, or 'its ability to bring about intended beneficial effects on individuals administered', the Hyderabad-based firm reiterates that it showed 78 per cent effectiveness overall and 100 per cent against hospitalisation. 4. Several non-ration card holders in Delhi are turned back empty handed as many distribution centres run out of stock. The Delhi government on June 5 began distributing four kg of wheat and one kg of rice to non-ration card holders but soon ran into shortage issues at several centres across Munirka, Ber Sarai, RK Puram, Shahpur Jat and Seemapuri. 5. Washington: The administration of President Joe Biden is buying 500 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to distribute among other countries, US media reports citing people familiar with the matter. Biden will make the formal announcement at the G-7 meeting in Britain this week, the Washington Post and New York Times say. 6. Bihar's massive revision in its Covid deaths figure to over 9,000 has become controversial with the 72 per cent jump raising more questions. The Nitish Kumar government on Wednesday reported that the number of deaths across the state in the pandemic was 9,429, a dramatic spike that also impacts the Centre's daily Covid death figures.
