He is the author of Fascinating Rhythm: Reading Jazz in American Writing and Bob Dylan: Like a Complete Unknown. His most recent book which is the focus of the episode, Reckless Daughter: A Portrait of Joni Mitchell, has just been published by Sarah Crichton Books/Farrar Straus & Giroux.
