19. Interview with J.C. De Luna of Barrio Dandy
In this episode Jasmine talks to artist and vintage stylist J.C. De Luna of Barrio Dandy. In their conversation they discuss vintage collecting, styling in Latino communities, Pachuco/a history, Zoot Suits, and "style as resistance." She also talks to him about his participation in the exhibition at the Vincent Price Art Museum, "Tastemakers & Earthshakers: Notes from Los Angeles Youth Culture, 1943 – 2016." Jasmine recorded the chat when she was visiting her family in Los Angeles in December of 2016 at J.C.’s showroom so you may hear hustle and bustle in the background, but it just adds to the authentic LA experience.
