79: Chinmay Tumbe on what we can learn from past pandemics

They say, ‘If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it’. But could that be true about pandemics as well? From 1817 to 1920, India and the world faced many pandemics – plague, cholera, and influenza – that fractured the regular flow of living. So by learning about them better, could we have handled the current COVID-19 pandemic better?

In this episode, Sandip discusses this and more with Chinmay Tumbe, who in his latest book, The Age of Pandemics, looks back at past pandemics to see how they shaped India and the world.

Tumbe is a faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad.
