1. In a big win for Amazon, the Supreme Court on Friday says Reliance cannot go ahead with its USD 3.4 billion deal to buy Future Group's retail assets. The Supreme Court said a Singapore arbitrator's decision to hold the sale of Future Retail is enforceable. 2. The Reserve Bank maintains the key interest rates unchanged for a seventh straight meeting and retained the GDP growth target at 9.5 per cent as the country was 'in a much better position compared to June 2021.' The repo rate would be unchanged at 4 per cent and the reverse repo rate would remain at 3.35 per cent, the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said at the end of the bi-monthly Monetary Policy Committee review meeting. The central bank also decided to maintain an 'accommodative' stance as the economy is yet to recover from impact of second Covid wave. 3. India's Bajrang Punia wins his quarterfinal bout by fall against Morteza Ghiasi of Iran in the men's freestyle 65kg category and qualified for the semi-finals where he will take on Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan. The father of Indian women's hockey team captain Rani Rampal says that the heartbreaking defeat in the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics was 'not a loss' but a win in itself. Reacting to the team's 3-4 defeat at the hands of Great Britain in Tokyo on Friday, Rampal, Rani's father, said his daughter will be welcomed back to her home 'like a winner' once she returns from the Summer Games. Rani's family is based in Shahabad in Haryana's Kurukshetra district. 5. India on Friday records 44,643 fresh Covid cases, which is nearly 4 per cent higher than yesterday. The country also reported 464 deaths taking the death count to 4,26,754. Kerala remains a major Covid hotspot with more than 20,000 daily cases.
