William Matthews: On Black Lives Matter
In today’s episode, co-hosts Caitlin and Allison are joined by good friend William Matthews. William is a singer-songwriter and artist advocate with an obvious wealth of knowledge to share with us when it comes to the history of Black people in America and how we are progressing (and failing to progress) in today’s society. William explains what it means to be an artist advocate and what we can do to make an impact in our advocacy. Allison, Caitlin, and William take a step back and look at the beginnings of systemic racism towards Black people, including land ownership, environmental racism, and feelings toward Black leadership. William explains why the most targeted people have the truest stories to share and what is giving him hope as he looks into the future.
