Japan's Mass European Migration

On June 14th  Takafusa Kubo signed for Real Madrid in one of the biggest transfers in Japanese history. He is one of a growing trend of young Japanese players moving abroad at a young age. During this international break, a record 20 out of the 23 man squad were playing in Europe. When did this movement begin and who were the Japanese trailblazers who made this possible?
