Japanese is often confused for being a tonal language, when in all actuality, Japanese is a tone-less language. Japanese requires no tones and uses particles to articulate some feelings like exclamation and the need for affirmation.
These two sentence ending particles give the following feelings:
よ: Exclamation
ね: Need for hearer's confirmation.
