1. The government is aiming at a COVID-19 vaccination record today to mark the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A 20-day mega event, 'Seva and Samarpan Abhiyan', has also been planned by PM Modi's party, the BJP, to mark his '20 years in public service'. 2. Ahead of the 'black Friday' protest march which was announced by Shiromani Akali Dal on completion of one year of enactment of the three farms laws, the party said that Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib is being cordoned off and Delhi borders are being sealed. They further alleged that Punjab registered vehicles are being stopped at the Delhi borders. 3. The Goods and Services Tax Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will meet today to discuss several key issues, including a proposal to bring petrol and diesel under the GST regime. During the meeting, the GST Council may also consider extending the tax concessions on 11 Covid drugs till December 31 and compensation to states for making up the GST shortfall. 4. BJP MPs Pratap Simha and Tejasvi Surya on Thursday faced the ire of Hindu activists during their visit to inaugurate a hospital in Mudigere. The two were mobbed by activists who condemned the recent demolition of a temple in Nanjangud taluk. The two leaders tried to pacify the crowd and said the Congress was trying to gain political mileage out of the incident. 5. The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday raided three locations linked to activist Harsh Mander. The raids, which began at 8 am, are connected to a money laundering probe based on a FIR filed by the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police in February this year. Activists and intellectuals condemned the raids.
