Crime Cinema #1 - Gangsters, Silent Cinema and Evil Criminal Masterminds

Adam and Darrell jump back to the earliest days of cinema and take a look at the birth of the crime film in the first in a series of podcasts about the crime genre.

In this first podcast they cover the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes (1900), animal heroics in Rescued By Rover (1905), the significance of films like Underworld (1927), Fantomas (1913-1914), Dr Mabuse, Der Spieler (1922) before the sound of the Tommy Gun shattered the silence forever in films like Little Caesar (1931), The Public Enemy (1931) and Scarface (1932).

Cine-Lit intends to drop back in on the crime genre periodically and explore more areas in this perenially popular genre.
