Get your free 7 Day Eating plan here: https://www.rockbottomwellness.com/7-day-eating-plan Welcome to another episode of Rock Bottom Wellness. I’m your host, Tiffany Flaten. Today, I’m on my own talking about Thyroid Dysfunction and Treatment.  Today we’re talking about what a thyroid gland is and does, what foods to eat and what to avoid for thyroid health, supplements and autoimmunity.  What is the thyroid? The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland that sits at the base of your neck. It affects every cell in your body.    Foods to avoid. Gluten is not good when you have a thyroid condition due to the inflammatory response it can trigger. This is especially true when the condition is an autoimmune condition. Also, soy should be avoided as well as artificial sweeteners such as Sucralose/Splenda. It basically attacks the thyroid. Avoiding goitrogens CAN be an issue for people with thyroid dysfunction. This is more for people with a goiter and takes about 2 Cups raw daily of these cruciferous veggies to cause an issue.    Foods to include. Brazil Nuts due to their amount of Selenium. Selenium helps with thyroid hormone conversion. Magnesium-rich foods help with thyroid receptor sensitivity.    Supplements. Avoid Iodine when there are antibodies. Zinc increases absorption of Selenium. Magnesium improves receptor sensitivity. Inositol helps with brain symptoms common in people dealing with a thyroid issue. Detoxification helps this process as well with thyroid sensitivity and hormone conversion.
