Bryce Mann: Wolfbear Wood Designs.
HOW THE BUSINESS STARTED. Today, we’re talking with Bryce Mann of Wolfbear Wood Designs. About two years ago, Bryce started as a woodworking hobbyist. As he started piecing small projects together and began to learn more about the work, he soon felt confident enough to start selling. DEVELOPING AND MARKETING THE BUSINESS. The main marketing mediums that Bryce uses are social media and word of mouth. So far, Wolf Bear has gained enough traction to start started selling in a local store! FAVORITE ASPECTS OF THE BUSINESS Bryce loves the learning aspect of the work. Looking at what he’s learned and how far he’s come, inspires him to keep creating and growing. Without a business background, Bryce is working on expanding his marketing skills and business skills. CURRENT PROJECTS Recently, Bryce has been working with live-edge products. Specifically, a computer desk that was originally supposed to be a coffee table! Excited to make things that he never has before, his excitement about this challenge is high! SOURCING THE WOOD Bryce worked in the Forestry Department for over ten years. Having a good relationship with the local forest management company, they gave him a letter of permission to mill any non-merch logs. With this, he’s able to source all of his wood locally. Using his Granberg Alaskan Chainsaw Mill, Bryce goes out, cuts the wood, and brings it home. Loving his mill, Bryce says the portability of it is very helpful in his work. FUTURE PLANS Before the end of the year, Bryce hopes to have a website up and running and to make this business his full-time job. Looking to push his boundaries and testing himself, Bryce hopes to move on to some more challenging projects and continue getting his name out there.
