Tissie Owens married Yaser Abdel Said as a 15 year old girl. He promised her a life of riches and ease, as he told her he owned land in Egypt and was very wealthy. This appealed to her parents, and they allowed the two to get married. A few years later, they already had 3 children: Islam, Amina and Sarah. The two girls just wanted to be normal, American girls. But the desires of their father for them to follow his culture and ideals got in the way of their plans for life.
