What if keeping your blood alcohol content at .05% made your life better? ‘Another Round’ (2020) follows four friends testing that hypothesis...to wildly varying effect. This Danish export starring Mads Mikkelsen (of Hannibal, Dr. Strange, and Casino Royale fame) is, by turns, hilarious, tearjerking, and uplifting. It defies expectations and lives up to all of them simultaneously, telling a story of drinking in one of the countries that does it best. Or most. A mix of both, it’s safe to say. The movie is bookended by glimpses of student revelry—the graduating class at the school our four heroes work and teach at—and it’s with much revel and relish that we get to watch the wheels come off in glorious fashion.
