The story follows Bella, who moves from Arizona to rainy Forks in the Pacific Northwest. There she is welcomed with open arms at the local high school but finds herself drawn to the chilly and withdrawn Edward, whose family is as pale and mysterious as he is. As if by gravity Bella and Edward are drawn to each other, but he holds a terrible secret: he’s a vegetarian. Wait, no. It’s that he can run real good! Wait, dammit.
