High Anxiety - Part 1 (with Annette Crawford)
My friend Annette Crawford comes on the podcast to recall her memories of High Anxiety (1977) and generally sell me on adding more Mel Brooks into my life. Along the way, both of us get a little personal, her about her mental health and me about my negligent parents, but we do manage to end on an up note (due, I’m sure, to the timely intervention of Annette’s Harry Potter doorbell). During our talk, I called Alfred Hitchcock a “monster,” which is a label I stand by. As evidence, I offer these: The episode of Behind the Bastards dealing with Hitchcock: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/episode/part-one-alfred-hitchcock-the-director-30360795/ This Hollywood Reporter article (one of many by several outlets) from 2016 covering the release of Tippi Hedren’s memoir Tippi: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tippi-hedren-recounts-alleged-sexual-assault-by-alfred-hitchcock-new-memoir-942371
